His father owned a shoe repair shop at 40th & Landis Avenue (now the site of AZO Condominiums) and his parents together also operated a fish/grocery store on 43rd Street (now the site of Basilicos Restaurant). Prior to a real estate career, Farina served as the manager of First Savings & Loan Association of Sea Isle City (now First Bank of Sea Isle City). He began his real estate career in Stone Harbor in 1970 at Diller & Fisher Realtors. In aiming to have his own real estate company in his hometown of Sea Isle City, he decided to open Diller-Farina & Associates in 1984 before forming a partnership with his current partner, Barbara, in 1992.
