Brian “Hank” Ruxton, Josh Jaspan, and Matt Pittaluga are all friends who met at Flagler College. Hank frequently cooked and made his hot sauce for personal use. When Matt needed to create a new product for a class assignment, they made 20 bottles for his class. Students started asking to buy the sauce, and its popularity has soared ever since.

 By 2011, the three friends moved back to New Jersey and officially launched the brand and began selling the sauce at the Sea Isle City Farmers Market. In October of 2011, they bought a property in the Townsends Inlet section of Sea Isle where they could make more sauce and open a restaurant.

The restaurant is still thriving today and is located at 8605 Landis Ave. and the guys are still selling sauce weekly at the Sea Isle City Farmers Market. While dining at the restaurant, customers will enjoy classic staples such as cheesesteaks, burgers, and Mexican food with a twist. Hank Sauce is open 12-8pm Thursday-Monday.

 Hank Sauce is also available to buy around the country and at hanksauce.com. The “core four” of sauces includes the original Herb Infused, Cilanktro, Camouflage, and Hank’s Heat. Customers can buy by the bottle, and businesses can sign up for wholesale to become one of the thousands of retailers carrying the sauce.
